Yoga
Yoga is an ancient practice that seeks to align the body and the mind through physical postures, breathing techniques and meditative tools used to yoke the mind into the present moment. On a physical level, yoga helps with balance, calming of the nervous system, good posture, strength building, dissolving of tension, and flexibility. On a mental level it reduces stress, helps with concentration, removes mental clutter and supports cognitive functioning.
Some of the benefits we have perceived in our students include: being more present with themselves as well as others, thus able to make better decisions and communicate more clearly; bringing them into their bodies and offering a way to measure growth and change; seeing themselves as strong and capable beings; allowing them to explore the deep quiet space within that is ever present and available to be accessed; enhancing appreciation of self; and providing a platform for self love.
